What I Do, and Why I Do it

January 4, 2022

Why did I decide to start this project? Because this path is not sustainable.

There are 10,000 fewer veterinarians than when I joined the profession 25+ years ago AND with adding 4 new veterinary teaching hospitals in the United States. As the pet population continues to slowly grow, there are less veterinarians to see your babies now than 25 years ago.

Because the practice of practical evidenced based medicine in a time of advanced technology and diagnostics during a pet explosion in a 100 year cycle pandemic, mixed with excessive burn out and high suicide rates among veterinary professionals and lay people is killing veterinary professionals at 5 times the average person.

The profession as we know it is forever changed and the landscape looks much different for healers.

How do we move forward? How do we navigate these changes?  Is it worth it even?

The goal of this website is to explore the art and science of healing and to find ways to bring light back to the professional people who are currently suffering, some aloud but most in silence. Veterinary medicine is STILL one of the best professions on Earth, but it isn’t worth dying for.

It is time to take a hard look at ourselves and the profession and let our own healing begin!
