Dr. Denette O. Cooke has practiced integrative medicine since 2005 after opening her hospital in Chesapeake, VA in 2002. With a background in chemistry, she currently holds certifications in chiropractic and acupuncture. Additionally, she is also well versed in the utilization of Chinese herbals. Because she believes so strongly in the benefits of blending modalities, Dr. Cooke has also pursued and received certification in Balance Method acupuncture, making her one of only 80 veterinarians world wide certified in this advanced method. Dr. Cooke believes that the ‘2 Black Bag’ approach to medicine is the ideal way to provide the best of what both Eastern and Western medicine has to offer towards healing companion animals. Complex cases and senior pets are her favorite challenges. She has a passion for teaching and mentoring young doctors. Dr. Cooke is currently in the process of starting a website/blog to share her knowledge regarding the benefits of practicing integrative veterinary medicine in a time of great uncertainty within the industry.
